Mapping Verification
Mapping Error: Assessment of how well the output of the multivariate OI procedure agrees with the input data right at the instrument sites
- Blue: Measured values
- Green: Mapped values at the instrument sites
Prediction Error: To estimate how accurate are the maps between the instrument sites. Measured currents and pressure were omitted as inputs to the OI procedure one site at a time, and their values were predicted in the resulting maps.
- Blue: Measured values
- Green: Predicted values at the instrument sites
This overestimates the actual errors because the data gaps created by the omissions are twice as large as the actual instrument spacings.
