TOMOGRAPHY

JAMSTEC's ocean acoustic tomography system (details)

Ray arrival peaks can be easily traced day to day.

Time series of observed travel times (TTs) for acoustic transmissions from T1 to T3 (Top) and T3 to T4. The largest 70 peaks are plotted; transmissions occurred every 3 hours in August and every 6 hours in July and September.

a) Low frequency (<1cpd) differential travel time series of the T1 to T3. b) Sum travel time series of the T1 to T3. c) Differential travel time series of the T3 toT4. d) Sum travel time series of the T3 to T4. The sum and differential TTs correspond to the change of current velocity and temperature variation, respectively. The axial rays are not used.
