Observations and characterisation of eddies in the 
South-western Atlantic Ocean during 1993-94



This movie shows the displacements of 10 Low Cost Drifters deployed in the South-western Atlantic Ocean during the COROAS project. The trajectories of all drifters started at the vicinity of 30oS in the Brazil Current (BC). As time passed, the distinct buoys took different paths along the BC, the Brazilian Coastal Current (BCC) and the South Atlantic Current (SAC). The time step of the movie is a day, and the movie runs from 10 March 1993 to 27 July 1994. Several interesting features are displayed by the buoys, including eddies and current reversals of the BCC.
